What is StudApe?
StudApe is a free platform that lists and recommends the best digital tools available for free or with discounts for students. Our mission is to democratize access to digital resources to improve the educational journey.
Is StudApe really free?
Yes! StudApe is 100% free and will remain so. We are a volunteer project maintained by students for students. We take no commission and sell no data.
How does the intelligent assistant work?
The assistant asks you 5 questions about your profile (education level, types of offers sought, access methods, categories of interest and age). It then calculates a relevance score for each tool and presents you with the results ranked by matching percentage.
How to verify my student status?
The method varies depending on the service:
- University email (.edu, .ac-*, etc.) - most common
- Student ID card to send as photo
- Verification via your institution
- Specialized services (SheerID, Student Beans, UniDays)
- Registration via GitHub Student Pack
I don't have a university email, can I still benefit from the offers?
Yes, many services accept other forms of verification such as your student card, a school certificate or verification via third-party services. Check the "Access Conditions" section of each tool to know the accepted alternatives.
Can high school students access the offers?
Some tools are accessible to high school students, others are reserved for higher education students. Use the assistant by selecting "High School" as education level to see only the tools accessible to you.
Do tools remain free after my studies?
It depends on each service:
- Some offer perpetual licenses (you keep access)
- Others are limited to the duration of your studies
- A few offer reduced rates for alumni
Are discounts cumulative with other offers?
Generally no. Student offers are considered special promotions and are not cumulative with other promo codes or discounts. However, some services may make exceptions - check their terms and conditions.
Why do some tools require strict verification?
Companies verify student status to prevent abuse and to be able to continue offering these exclusive benefits. Without these verifications, student programs could be exploited and eventually discontinued. It's a necessary protection to maintain these generous offers.
The assistant recommends few tools, why?
The assistant filters tools according to your specific criteria. If you get few results, try selecting "Doesn't matter" on some questions to broaden the search. The assistant displays all tools with their matching percentage, even those with a low score.
How to suggest a new tool?
Go to the Contribute page and click on "Submit a tool". Fill out the form with the tool information (name, link, category, offer type, access conditions, etc.) and our team will verify and add the tool if it meets the criteria.
How to report a tool that no longer works?
You can contact us directly via the Contact page. Tell us which tool is problematic and the nature of the malfunction. We will quickly verify and update.
Is my data collected?
No, StudApe does not collect any personal data. The assistant's preferences are stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and are never sent to our servers. We completely respect your privacy.
